A few days ago we wrote about what to look for in a Scandinavian-style snowsuit. Per the request of our readers, we've done some research and come up with our favorite picks for the Winter 2015-16 season.

Scandinavian Living picks: Favorite snowsuits for kids

by Sara, 14 November 2015
Spyder Mini Journey Suit $184.95

This suit is one of our favorites. We love the simple, but cool design that throws in splashes of color. Its waterproof and breathable stretch fabric with low profile insulation allows for a full range of body movement. It has a removable hood, is glued at the seams, and have elasticized cuffs with glove attachments. Spyder’s "Small To Tall" feature allows an additional 1.5" at the sleeves and 2" at hem. It sells on Winterkids.com in sizes 2-7 years.

Hanna Anderson Journeys End $62.30

We love this colorful suit from Hanna Anderson. The flowers almost give you a sense of spring in the middle of winter. The Hanna Anderson brand prides itself on its high quality and eco-friendly products. The snowsuit comes with Thermolite® Plus insulation, a water resistant shell, and wind flap with easy hook and loop closure. It has reflective piping for 360º visibility and a long front zipper. The snowsuit can be purchased at Hanna Anderson in sizes 3 months (EU60) to 3-5 years (EU100).

Deux par Deux Monsieur Renard $112

Deux par Deux has some great suits. It was difficult to choose one among their many fun patterns. In the end our pick was this Monsieur Renard” Snowsuit given its unisex design. It’s waterproof with superior insulation against the cold down to -30°C. It has elasticized wrists with adjustable tabs, wind stopper placket, and adjustable waist. The inside hood, collar, back/front are lined with polar fleece for extra comfort and warmth. Also check out their Mon Ami Le Yeti line at deuxpardeux.com.

Polarn O Pyret Performance $174

This very high-quality Norwegian snowsuit has many of the functions that we like. Reinforced fabric on elbows, knees, seat and legs, glued seams, and replaceable elastic straps under the feet. A storm flap inside the zipper offers extra protection against cold air, and a zipper flap prevents against chafing. The hood is detachable and snaps off if it gets entangled to avoid injury. We do find the colors a bit plain and boring, though. It sells in sizes 6 months to 2 years at Polarn O Pyret.

LL Bean Cold Buster Suit $69.99

This American brand offers some nice suits. They sell at a lower cost and are a good alternative to Polarn O Pyret. The Cold Buster is made in a light wind- and water-resistant fabric making movement and play easy. It has reinforced knees and seat, and an elasticized waist. A full-front zipper makes it easy to get in and out of and internal nylon gaiters help keep snow and ice out. Like the Polarn O Pyret the pattern and colors are a bit plain. It sells in 4 colors for ages 2-4 years on LL Bean.

Obermeyer Starlet Suit $199.50

This Obermeyer Suit in Carnival Stripe is another one of our favorites. Obermeyer is a high-quality brand with waterproof, breathable, and warm suits. It’s glued at the seams, has reinforced hems and inseams, and comes with water resistant powder cuffs. It also has a removable hood, hood ear warmers, adjustable waist, several zippered pockets, fitted elastic wrists, reflectors, and cuff clips for gloves. The suit sells on winterkids.com in sizes 2-8 years.

Kamik Apparel Snowsuit 149.95

Kamik is known for making footwear, but also has some nice outerwear. This lightweight/waterproof Patsy and Merlin Snowsuit comes in fun patterns with bright colors. We like the Purple Cactus for girls and the Sodalite Blue for boys. This is a good value snowsuit that includes all of the necessary features. Reinforced knees, seat and elbows, a boot strap to keep pant legs in place, reflectors, adjustable waist, and a detachable hood. It sells in sizes 18 months to 3 years on backcountry.com.

Burton Minishred Striker $149.99

Burton is a well-known brand in the US. This Minishred Striker suit sells in various patterns for both girls and boys. We prefer it in Cyborgasaurus Rex for boys, and inky dinky plaid for girls. The suit is waterproof with Burton’s Dryride Durashell™ and mapped with Themacore™ Insulation. It comes with a removable drop-down hood and Velcro closure pockets, and is built for growth spurts with Room-To-Grow™ legs and sleeves. The suit sells on Winterkids.com and Backcountry.com.

Canada Goose Lamb Suit $394.95

Canada Goose is a high-quality brand with the best tech for winter. We love its clean look, which displays the classic design Canada Goose is known for. This lightweight suit comes with an Arctic-Tech shell with DWR coating and internal snow gaiters that seal around the boots. The Lamb Snowsuit sells on backcountry.com in sizes 0-18 months. Canada Goose also sells a similar suit in Grizzly sizes (2-7 years). The Grizzly size comes with reinforced knees, seat, and elbows and room to grow.
